Future
For over 40 years, the Ankeny Art Center has been fulfilling our mission "To enrich the quality of life in our community through visual arts education, exhibitions, and events."
In September 2026, the Ankeny Art Center launched a capital campaign to fund a new facility that will better serve our growing community. The new building will improve accessibility, expand space for our rapidly growing programs, increase available parking, and create a more welcoming environment for participants of all ages and abilities. This investment will position the Art Center to meet increasing demand while enhancing the quality, reach, and impact of our educational and community programs for years to come.
We invite you to be part of this exciting vision for the future. Your support will help make this transformative project a reality and ensure that the arts remain accessible to our community for generations to come. Every gift brings us one step closer to our goal. To learn more about making a financial contribution to the campaign, please contact us at director@ankenyartcenter.com, or call us at 515.965.0940
Why invest in a new Ankeny Art Center Building?
40 years ago, a group of community advocates recognized the intrinsic value arts brings to a community and created the Ankeny Arts Center. Access to arts is critical part of a community's quality of life enhancements and drives economic development.
According to the National Endowment of the Arts:
-
a cultural organization in the community increases property values by up to 20%
-
low income students who participate in the arts are 5 times less likely to drop out
-
participating in visual arts for as little as 10 weeks increase brain resiliency and nureal connectivity
-
53% of businesses indicate partnerships with the arts support creative thinking and problem solving
Ankeny has been one of the fastest growing communities in Iowa for the past several years. As a community now nearing 80,000 our citizens deserve art and cultural facilities commensurate with Ankeny's other exceptional quality of life amenities like schools, parks and recreation, and city and library etc.
A NEW proposed Ankeny Art Center will incorporate:
-
Expanded education and programming
-
Improved access for all ages
-
Enlarged space overall for gallery exhibitions and classes
-
designed specifically for art center use.
